Blood pressure: Systolic blood pressure – Diastolic blood pressure – Pulse pressure

Blood Pressure: Blood pressure is measured by an instrument called Sphygmomanometer.

Systolic blood pressure: This is the maximum pressure extended in the arteries during the systole of heart. The normal systolic blood pressure is 120 mm Hg. It ranges between 110 and 140 mm Hg.

Diastolic blood pressure: This is the minimum pressure in the arteries during the diastole of the heart. The normal diastolic blood pressure is 80 mm Hg. It varies between 60 and 80 mm Hg.

Pulse pressure: This is the difference between the systolic pressure and diastolic pressure. Normally it is 40 mm Hg.
