Dadasaheb Phalke Award for Director K. Balachander for the year 2010
- CHENNAI: Director K. Balachander, one of the influential filmmakers and trendsetters in Indian cinema, will receive the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for the year 2010, the Information and Broadcasting Ministry announced on Friday (29-04-2011).
- The Dadasaheb Phalke Award is India’s highest award in cinema given annually by the Government of India for lifetime contribution to Indian cinema. First Awarded in 1969 to Devika Rani Chaudhuri Roerich.
- The award for a particular year is given during the end of the following year along with the National Film Awards. The award comprises a Swarna Kamal (golden lotus) medallion, a cash prize of Rs 1 million (10 lakhs) and a shawl.
